Growing up I was always into Baseball and played up to high school, after that I got asked to coach a church softball team at the age of 17. I thought that it was crazy that a 17-year-old was about to coach a whole bunch of adults but I gave it a shot anyways. I continued to coach for the last 10 years or so and won multiple seasons, I also dabbled a little bit into volleyball and had a lot of fun with that too. I've developed a love for coaching and seeing what someone can do when they put their mind and body into improving themselves and seeing that effort come to fruition through a combination of coaching and their hard work.
I've struggled with my weight and insecurities about how I look for most of my teens and adult life, one day I stepped on my scale and hit 300 pounds. When that happened, I was so frustrated with myself about my eating habits and how I just let it happen. I had to make a change and correct a lot of my unhealthy habits that just dragged me down mentally and physically. After that day I started to consistently show up 3 days a week to Kingman CrossFit, and with some help from my wife and Amanda Simmons's nutrition challenge and seminar, I started to dial in my eating habits. Within a year and a half I went from 300 pounds to 230. I am now right around 210 now and I can say that I feel better than I have my entire life. A lot of this is because of hard work and determination to stick to the plan and focus on my goals, but I don't think most of this would have been possible without Kingman CrossFit, my family, friends, and my Wife who has helped me through this entire transition.
One thing I have learned about myself is that I genuinely enjoy helping others, no matter how I go about it. When it comes to coaching I get to be the guy that helps you reach your goals, hit PRs, achieve milestones, and so much more while making sure you're staying safe and meeting the movement standards. Nobody likes getting no repped, but ensuring our members meet the standards is crucial for me as a coach.
